Lawn Tennis
& Croquet Club
St Paul’s Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club was established in 1930 as a club for church members and friends who got together to buy the land and build tennis courts and a croquet lawn.
Since 2006 the club has been a Community Amateur Sports Club and the facilities are now available to our neighbours of any or no faith.
The club grounds are on the corner of Essenden Road and Carlton Road CR2 0BH.
CROQUET SECTION
The croquet season runs from April until autumn (weather-dependent) so if the sun is shining and you are free on a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday afternoon, why not come and have a go at croquet?
Maybe you’ve never played before, or consider yourself not at all “sporty”; this should not put you off from trying the delights of St Paul’s Croquet Club, not least because we play croquet in our own particular way, with our own simplified rules and emphasis on the social aspects of the game.
Club play, generally as doubles, is every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons. We usually start at 2.30pm with a break for refreshments and finish around 5 – or later if we feel like it.
There’s plenty of street parking; the 403 bus passes the door and the 412 stops in Selsdon Road.
Equipment is provided. - just turn up in comfortable clothing and flat shoes.

LAWN TENNIS SECTION
The small friendly Tennis Section plays throughout the year on two hard tennis courts which are available for any members to use outside of club sessions – no booking necessary, although matches and tournaments take priority.
American Tournaments and internal Club Tournaments (singles, doubles and mixed doubles) are organized during the summer months.
The Tennis Section has its own website and if you are interested in playing tennis, further information about membership, playing times, and contact details can be found at http://www.stpaulstennis.co.uk.
